With breathtaking ocean views, world-class courses, and designs by legends like Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, Los Cabos is a golfer’s dream.

Golfing in Los Cabos is a bucket-list experience for enthusiasts visiting Land’s End. With 18 exceptional courses already available to challenge players of all skill levels — and more in development — this destination continues to cement its reputation as a golfer’s paradise.

Renowned course designers like Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, and Robert Trent Jones Jr. have left their mark on the region. Adding to this illustrious lineup, Scottish-born architect David McLay Kidd is currently crafting the newest gem: Baja Bay Club, set to debut in Baja’s East Cape.

Baja Bay Club, is part of a sprawling 2,400-acre real estate development set to include up to 500 luxury beach and ocean-view homes.

Accompanying the picturesque scenery, the Baja Bay Club course will be artfully carved into the stunning desertscape, with holes 9, 10, and 11 touching the beach sands. Players will also be able to hone their game at either a delightful short course or a practice facility. Baja Bay Club is set to open in 2026.

Also scheduled to open in early 2026 is the Ernie Els–designed Oleada Golf Links Los Cabos. Els — who has won 75 professional tournaments worldwide, including four major championships — said of the project, “Our goal at Oleada is to build a core golf course that harmonizes with nature.”

Another highly anticipated addition to the Los Cabos golf scene is the Legacy Club at Diamante, an 18-hole, par-71 course spanning 6,966 yards from the tips. Designed by golf legend Tiger Woods, the course is expected to open by press time, marking his third masterpiece at Diamante. Woods’ previous designs include El Cardonal, host of the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technology Championship, and the Oasis Short Course, both celebrated for their exceptional playability and stunning landscapes.

Quivira’s second Jack Nicklaus golf course was set to open in late 2024 as well, but to date, it is still a work in progress.

Querencia is gearing up to unveil a second golf course, with legendary designer Tom Fazio — who crafted the original course 25 years ago — leading the design once again. The new course is slated to open in 2026. An update on the Querencia website states: “As work proceeds on the second 18-hole course, Querencia is also building a new Canyon Club, which will serve as a family hub. The first phase of its construction will include an outdoor skate park, a pump track, a basketball court, and a soccer field, while the second phase will bring a trampoline park, a climbing wall, a family pool, dining, and an open-air cinema.”

COURSE AWARDS

Throughout the 206 countries and territories worldwide, you can find nearly 39,000 golf courses. Each year, Golf Digest painstakingly selects the top 100 golf courses on the planet — and this year, Los Cabos has 2 golf courses in that coveted list.

The Jack Nicklaus–designed Cabo del Sol (Cove Club, formerly the Ocean Course) came in at No. 100. Nicklaus once described the course as having the “three finest finishing holes in golf.” Ironically, in 2020, the 17th and 18th holes were demolished and replaced by two inland holes to make oceanfront space for expanded resort development. Even with that dramatic change, however, the course still held its own in the eyes of the judges.

Coming in at No. 47 was Diamante Golf Club (The Dunes). Designed by Davis Love III, this course is considered Mexico’s first true links course. Davis’s design team included his brother, Mark Love, and designer Paul Cowley. The judges especially praised the holes hugging the Pacific Ocean. The second nine are adjacent to the sea, with the tallest dunes doing their part to disrupt golfers. As another point of interest, no other links course in the world sports cactus!

GOLF TOURNAMENTS

El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas proudly hosted the World Wide Technology Championship once again in November 2024, welcoming over 130 professional golfers to its renowned fairways. The 2023 tournament concluded with a thrilling moment as Erik van Rooyen sank a 16-foot eagle putt on the par-5 finishing hole to claim the championship title.

Hosted at the Pueblo Bonito Pacífica Golf & Spa Resort, the annual Los Cabos Golf Pro-Am tournament is slated for January 12–15, 2025. The best ball event will be contested at Cabo del Sol Golf Club on Monday, January 13. On Tuesday, January 14, golfers will tee off at Solmar Golf Links at Rancho San Lucas, and the final round is set for Wednesday, January 15, at Quivira Golf Club.

Founded in 2010, the annual Cabo Collegiate Golf Tournament will be held March 2–4, 2025, at the Twin Dolphin Club, featuring golfers from 14 U.S. colleges. Past individual participants have included current world number one Scotty Scheffler, Victor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Ludwig Aberg, and Will Zalatoris, to name a few.

ON-COURSE CUISINE

Golfers visiting Los Cabos are guaranteed to leave with unforgettable memories — not just from the stunning courses but also from the unique culinary experiences that accompany a round of golf. Unlike many destinations worldwide, the golf experience in Los Cabos usually includes a memorable meal at the turn as well. Many courses in this picturesque region have transformed routine breaks into gourmet experiences with their exceptional comfort stations, often serving delectable Mexican cuisine.

Typically, you can expect one comfort station on the front nine and another on the back nine. However, Questro Golf’s Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club sets a new standard with its Culinary Palapas. These all-inclusive dining stations, offering food and beverages, welcome golfers up to four times per round. Each station features a dedicated bartender and chef, ensuring every dish is fresh and flavorful, with menus rotating biweekly to keep the experience exciting and unique for returning guests.

Another standout is Cabo San Lucas Country Club, a beloved destination known for both its exceptional course and its outdoor Viva Restaurant. Whether indulging in a perfectly grilled rib-eye steak or savoring succulent jumbo shrimp, dining here is an event to remember.

With live music, the glow of the nighttime driving range, and a lively atmosphere, guests can enjoy their meals and drinks while watching friends and family perfect their swings under the stars. Los Cabos truly offers a golf and dining experience like no other.
