The last new golf course opening in greater Los Cabos took place in 2019 when the Costa Palmas Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones II, opened in the East Cape. However, that extended drought is about to change, as 3 new courses are scheduled to open in 2026, joining the 18 fabulous tracks already available.
The concept for the Legacy Club is a course that transports golfers from the open desert landscape of Southern Baja into a new, secluded environment of lush vegetation — truly an oasis amid the desert. The existing gently sloped desert terrain will be transformed into a strategic, dramatic golf course complete with a backdrop of rolling green hills and rich, verdant landscaping. This garden environment will be truly unique for a coastal desert region, carrying golfers to vistas of unrivaled beauty.
The Legacy Club, a Tiger Woods design, will be a private course, with membership capped at 250 lucky golfers. It will open at year’s end at Diamante Cabo San Lucas.
Along with new ownership at Querencia, a private golf and beach club in San José del Cabo, a second golf course is currently under construction and scheduled to open in late 2026. The new track will be called Campo Alto (“high field” in Spanish) due to its canyon holes and higher ground, while the Querencia course, which opened in 2000, will now be known as Campo Bajo (“low field”). Campo Alto will feature undulating terrain and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.
Lastly, the much-anticipated opening of PGA professional/golf course designer Ernie Els’s Oleada Golf Links is soon to become a reality. On his website, Els says, “We’re so excited for the grand opening next year (2026).” Nestled along a pristine mile-long stretch of golden-sand beach, Oleada Pacific Living & Golf is located just 15 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas.
Award-Winning Greens
Each year, Golfweek magazine selects its top 50 courses in Mexico, the Caribbean, the Atlantic Islands, and Central America.
In its 2025 list, a dozen Los Cabos–area tracks were selected as part of that coveted lineup. Included are the following: Diamante Cabo San Lucas (Dunes) at No. 5; Chileno Bay, T12; Cabo del Sol (Cove Club, formerly the Ocean Course), T12; Querencia, No.14; El Dorado Golf & Beach Club, No. 19; Solmar Golf Links, No. 20; Twin Dolphin, No. 21; Diamante Cabo San Lucas (El Cardonal), No. 31; Quivira, No. 37; Costa Palmas, No. 42; Puerto Los Cabos (Norman & Nicklaus), No. 44; and Cabo del Sol, T45.
In Golf Digest’s latest listing of its top 100 courses across the globe, two Los Cabos tracks made the list.
Coming in at No. 47 was Diamante Golf Club (Dunes). Designed by Davis Love III, this course is considered Mexico’s first true links course. Davis’s design team included his brother, Mark Love, and designer Paul Cowley. The judges gave special praise to the holes hugging the Pacific Ocean, while the second nine are adjacent to the ocean, with the tallest dunes doing their part to disrupt and challenge golfers. No other links in the world sport cactus!
Also included was the Jack Nicklaus–designed Cabo del Sol (Cove Club, formerly the Ocean Course), making the cut right at No. 100. Not only is this dramatic location easy on the eyes, but the Cove Club course also instills a luxurious, laid-back vibe throughout the entire golf experience.
Championship Moments
Los Cabos hosts some premier golf showdowns. El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas hosted the annual World Wide Technology Championship in November 2025. This championship brought the world’s best PGA TOUR players to Los Cabos, providing a week of entertainment, world-class golf, and enjoyable activities for the entire family. At the 2024 event, 132 professional golfers came to tee it up.
The beloved annual Los Cabos Golf Pro-Am tournament takes place just after the new year. Set for January 11–15, 2026, Pueblo Bonito Pacífica Golf & Spa Resort will serve as the host hotel. The “Best Ball” event will take place at three fabulous courses, including the Cabo del Sol Golf Club, Solmar Golf Links at Rancho San Lucas, and Quivira Golf Club.
Founded in 2010, the annual Cabo Collegiate Golf Tournament will be held March 1–3, 2026, at the Twin Dolphin Club. The tournament includes golfers from 14 U.S. colleges. Past individual participants have included current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Ludvig Åberg, and Will Zalatoris, to name just a few.
Fairway Feasts: Gourmet Comfort Stations
In Los Cabos, the best golfing experiences usually include a memorable meal to be enjoyed at the turn. Many courses in this picturesque region have transformed routine breaks into gourmet experiences with their exceptional comfort stations often serving up delectable Mexican cuisine.
Redefining on-course cuisine is Questro Golf. Here, culinary palapas situated at each of the three golf courses offer all-inclusive food and drink, and guests are welcome to visit these stations four times during their round. Each palapa is staffed with a bartender and a chef, and the food menu changes every two weeks to keep the experience fresh and unique every time.
Cabo San Lucas Country Club has been a favorite destination for many over the years. This top-tier track is well known for its fabulous golf course as well as its outdoor Viva Restaurant. Whether you’re craving a succulent rib-eye steak or sumptuous jumbo shrimp, dining here is an experience in itself.
Amid live music and the backdrop of nighttime driving range activities, diners can enjoy their feast with their favorite beverage in hand — all while witnessing friends and families honing their skills under shimmering lights.
